Jericho joins forces with Wild Africa and OAS1SONE and over 100 African singer-songwriters in a historic first-ever a world tour series of Music for Wildlife Concerts, to lend their voices in support of wildlife conservation, raise awareness for climate change and plastics pollution, and have their messaging, voices, music and live performances broadcast across several Pan African and global television, radio and streaming platforms.
Jericho (born Jericho Jerome Gawanab)is a multi-award-winning Namibian rapper, songwriter, and entrepreneur, recognized as one of Namibia's most successful hip-hop artists. Born in Windhoek, Jericho's unique blend of conscious rap, storytelling, and social commentary has made a significant impact on the Namibian music scene. Inspired by both local and international hip-hop artists, he began writing and performing in his teenage years, quickly gaining recognition for his lyrical skill and thought-provoking messages.
In 2011, Jericho became the first hip-hop artist to win the Best Male Artist award at the Namibian Annual Music Awards (NAMAs), solidifying his position as a leading figure in Namibian hip-hop and expanding his reach to a wider audience. Jericho's music is known for its distinct flow, insightful lyrics, and personal connection with listeners, often addressing social issues like poverty, inequality, and political corruption. Influenced by artists such as Tupac Shakur, Nas, Jay-Z, and Eminem, he also incorporates traditional Namibian music and local languages into his songs.
Throughout his career, he has released several acclaimed albums, including "Street Fame," "Let's Celebrate," "The Walls," "The Recovery,"and "The Resurrection." Beyond his musical achievements, Jericho is a respected entrepreneur with his own record label and clothing line. His impact extends beyond music, serving as a role model and advocate for social change, and his legacy as a pioneer of Namibian hip-hop is firmly established.
